Kalido, provider of adaptive enterprise data warehousing software, announced that their customer Merial Limited will address the Technology Association of Georgia about their Successful Data Warehousing Project on December 9th 2004, 6:00 - 8:00 PM EST, at the Tech Square Research Building (TSRB), 85 Fifth Street NW, Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Steven P. Lerner, IS Director - Global Finance Applications and Integration, Merial, will discuss two major data warehousing initiatives powered by the KALIDO(R) application suite (KALIDO).

A $1.8 billion global company, Merial conducts business in over 150 countries and markets products for pets, large domestic animals, and commercial poultry. From an Information Systems perspective, Merial comprises 33 separate reporting entities built around one of seven different Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms. No two reporting entities use the same chart of accounts; therefore, aggregation and consolidation of information for corporate use previously proved challenging.

In an effort to reduce this burden, Merial made two significant investments in technology: one focusing on integration, the other on data warehousing. Merial's choice of KALIDO software to rapidly build and update their adaptive enterprise data warehouse, which is being used to consolidate data from 25 ERP systems, was based on their need to remold their business reporting hierarchies at a moment's notice.

Merial began with their Global Procurement Data Warehouse project. They have successfully taken purchasing data from their Oracle ERP system in the United States and their J.D. Edwards ERP system in France, and built a robust reporting platform based on KALIDO. They are in the middle of expanding their KALIDO enterprise data warehouse to include three additional entities, each with a different ERP installation. According to Dr. Lerner, the ability to easily incorporate data from those new entities into their existing data warehouse is just one of the many benefits of KALIDO.

Merial has also just launched a major project to build a Global Sales and Inventory Data Warehouse using KALIDO. This will incorporate data from all reporting entities and will be the repository of all historic financial data related to monthly closings. Their goal is to provide views of daily sales to their local, regional, and global business directors, as well as providing ad hoc analysis capabilities to their Corporate Finance Analysts.

02.12.2004, Kalido
