NRX Releases VIP 2.5 Packaged Composite Application for Enterprise Asset Management

NRX, provider of collaboration and data management solutions for enterprise asset management (EAM) in asset- intensive industries, announced the release of version 2.5 of VIP, a packaged composite application powered by SAP NetWeaver(TM). This latest version of VIP introduces an array of new capabilities designed to empower maintenance planning, optimize materials management business processes and improve management visibility into maintenance productivity.
VIP extends and enhances the usability and functionality of the plant maintenance capabilities of mySAP(TM) ERP and the core enterprise asset management capabilities provided by SAP® Service and Asset Management. VIP provides engineering, maintenance, operations and supply chain users with configurable role-based access to work and materials management business processes and content. VIP's simple-to-use interface and tailored views into relevant functionality and information empower both casual and power users to make more productive use of an EAM system. NRX's content management solution, ACM(TM), can also be integrated with VIP to enable cost-effective capture and management of asset information in an intuitive "visual bill of material" format.
"Asset owners can realize substantial benefits from the implementation of a content-rich collaboration infrastructure that speeds workflow and puts information in the right people's hands at the right time," said Dr. Sid Snitkin, Vice President, Supply Chain and Asset Lifecycle Management, ARC Advisory Group. "Maintenance productivity is one of the last, great opportunities for securing competitive advantage, and asset-heavy companies are only now beginning to understand the significant dimensions of this opportunity."
The latest release of VIP features expanded work management capabilities, including prepackaged, simplified work order and notification transactions for the casual user, and a work package builder. Work packages support safe work execution and increased productivity by bringing together all documentation associated with a maintenance work order, including transactional data from the plant maintenance and materials management capabilities in mySAP ERP, into a convenient, reusable and printable package. With the relevant information at hand, maintenance work can be executed more rapidly, helping ensure faster time-to-resolution of equipment repairs and minimizing asset downtime.
VIP 2.5 optimizes workflow and information sharing between maintenance and supply chain organizations, accelerating overall time-to-resolution of maintenance work. Significant new features include the ability to add or remove materials from a bill of material, as well as simplified versions of a variety of mySAP ERP functions such as the stock overview, material reservation and requisition. These new features allow maintenance workers to quickly and easily reserve and requisition parts required to execute maintenance jobs. VIP 2.5 also introduces a simplified mechanism for requesting the creation of new material master records.
VIP 2.5 also includes expanded platform support to help organizations more fully realize the potential of their investments in the SAP NetWeaver platform, including new support for SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0, SAP Web Application Server 6.40, as well as the Web Dynpro development environment, enabling integration with additional mySAP ERP applications. VIP is pre- integrated to fully support mySAP ERP software as well as R/3 4.6B or higher. Additional consulting is required for earlier versions of the ERP software.
"The latest release of VIP is designed to bridge the maintenance and supply chain worlds and deliver measurable business process improvement across the asset-intensive enterprise," said Paul Gray, CEO, NRX. "With VIP, customers can optimize maintenance work and spares management, extract greater value from their current EAM system investments, and maximize return on assets." 07.12.2004, NRX
