Version 2006 of abas ERP/Automotive provides adjustments to the current requirements of automotive components suppliers. Relevant fields specific to the automotive area were added to the EDI Center. A new feature is the container management. abas ERP/Automotive grows with the requirements of the automotive industry and always remains upgradeable.
Container management
Reusable containers can be used if the costs for the return transport and the cleaning are relatively low, where standards have to be fulfilled and the value of the packaging is high. These are the requirements that often exist in the automotive industry. Over the past years, the container management has accordingly become more and more extensive in the automotive industry. The production of the containers is expensive, they differ in size and material and often have to be available in large numbers for the cycle between production, vendors, producers and customers. The exact location, the content and the storage period is mostly unknown. Boxes are often used for purposes other than the intended, to be used in offices, in rear trunks or at home. This has the effect that companies have to have more containers available than needed in a controlled circulation. abas ERP supports companies when managing containers using the container management tool integrated into abas ERP. The abas container management can, according to the company's organization, be operated manually, through a barcode connection or using RFID support - abas ERP provides all the necessary interfaces. Thus, it can always be reproduced where the container is located and wait times can be determined.
EDI Center for Automotive
All automotive relevant fields have been integrated into the EDI Center, such as blanket order number, delivery schedule number, function of the message, cumulative received and delivered quantity. The specifications of the automotive industry, such as VDBA, Odette, EDIFACT, ANSIX-12 are taken into account when exchanging data.
The application of EDI provides full control of the entire goods, data and money flow. Thus, a flexible partner network is fully controllable. In contrast to receiving business documents per post or by fax, from which there can be time loss through transport and data entry errors when creating a new record, the data is transferred in a few seconds in electronic form using EDI. With EDI you can, for example, transfer purchase order data from the ERP/PPC system of the customer directly to the ERP/PPC system of the vendor.
