Adaptor with a bright future: abas ERP supports the growth of the "nie wieder bohren AG”

A simple idea, originating through the German enthusiasm for invention, led to the establishment in November 2005 of the "nie wieder bohren AG" in the hessian town Hanau. What began with one man is now a company with 16 employees. Plans to employ additional staff are imminent. The idea has been implemented and the company is expanding. Therefore, "nie wieder bohren" from the start implemented an integrated standard business software, which is flexible enough to optimally support the rapid growth. In the ERP software of ABAS, the software provider from Karlsruhe, they found exactly what they were looking for.

Ingeniously simple

The simplest ideas are often the best. Ernst Georg Ortwein, owner of a sanitary appliances specialist trade, was constantly irritated that there were no strong, quick, clean and above all reversible fixing options for valuable surfaces, such as tiles or natural stone, other than drilling. Aircraft and automobile construction, known to Ernst Georg Ortwein, have for many years used extremely adhesive and elastic single package systems daily. A difference to the automobile construction is the long time required for hardening and the air contact required for this. Up to now it was impossible to make a fixture through a little pressure. Ortweins idea: An adaptor, as an agent between the adhesive and the object to be affixed, which has internal screw threads, screws or studs.

Expansion preprogrammed

"We have a product, which on one hand is extremely multifaceted and on the other requires a great deal of explanation," resumes Frank Braun, CEO of "nie wieder bohren AG”. Together with an investor and the family Ortwein he released the rights to the novel fixing technology from the old company and established the "nie wieder bohren AG" in November 2005. Already a few months after establishment, Braun and his in the meantime 16 employees could hardly handle the influx of requests.

Decision made quickly

"In October 2005 I made my way to Munich", explains Braun about his choice of software,"in my bag I had a list of four existing ERP providers which I had spoken to at SYSTEMS. Above all, the evaluation options which the individual systems provide interest me." The decision was made already one week after the trade fair. "With abas Business Software I found the flexibility I required and a solution which was future-safe."

"Slimline" software implementation

Frank Braun on the implementation of the software: "The training courses for key users took place inhouse at the end of November. On 19.12.2005 the implementation of the software began and only a small amount of data had to be integrated into the system. This happened in the most part through Excel tables which we had prepared in the abas server, installed a week beforehand, including the operating system Linux on which the abas Business Software runs perfectly and is stable. Throughout the years we also adopted the BOMs and inventory sheets into the new system. The real start of the system was on the 2.1.2006."

Transparency and stable processes

Since the real start of the ERP software the internal company processes at "nie wieder bohren" have clearly improved. Through the stabilization of the processes the amount of errors is extremely low. CEO Frank Braun: "If we have three reclaims a month in the area of development, then that is already a lot. Thanks to our ERP system we have the possiblility to provide information at any time. Also our trainees can easily understand and use the standard processes."

eBusiness and internationality

In the future the "nie wieder bohren AG" would also like to use the integrable eBusiness components of the ERP software. "Which company which deals with sales these days comes by eBusiness?", reflects Frank Braun and: "We will also start with this soon." A central role is also played by foreign countries concerning future plans of the fixing specialist from Hanau: "We plan to strengthen our cooperative working with sales and distribution partners in foreign countries and plan to have company locations in key markets," said Braun: "Here we require an ERP software which is multilingual and, above all, a software which provides a competent onsite service. If you plan to enter the stock market in five years, a future-compatible software solution is required." And with a smile he adds: "Using the abas Business Software we have already implemented this future-safe software."
