Intacct Corporation, an ERP On Demand solution for distributed enterprises and ISVs, and IBM, announced that Navis Logistics Network, a custom packaging and shipping company, has selected Intacct ERP On Demand to centralize accounting functions across its national franchise system. Navis Logistics plans to roll out Intacct's ERP applications, which are delivered through IBM's e-business Hosting services, to some 150 warehouses and retail outlets to increase productivity by integrating financial services with day-to-day operations and automatically collecting royalties from franchisees. Both franchisors and franchisees can capitalize on market opportunities because they work together to monitor operations in real time.
"Intacct ERP On Demand gives us a tremendous ability to collaborate with franchisees on managing key metrics, such as margin and pricing," said Marvin L. Storm, president and CEO of Navis Logistics Network. "We are able to forecast revenues more accurately and analyze the data by regions to spot opportunities and issues earlier and more consistently. And since we all use the same software configuration and chart of accounts, we can more easily help franchisees with financial management and technical support."
Navis Logistics has integrated Intacct ERP On Demand into its NavisConnect system, a Web portal that franchisees, customers and partners use to efficiently produce estimates, process orders and manage logistics services for goods that are fragile, large, awkward and valuable (FLAV™). Adding Intacct's Web-based applications, Navis Logistics can streamline the royalty-collection process, allowing franchisees to focus on their core capabilities.
Intacct's patent-pending MEGA technology brings unique capabilities to franchise networks. All back-end processes are executed from Navis Logistics' headquarters in Denver. On top of a centralized ERP system, Navis franchisees can use the integrated NavisConnect and Intacct system via a Web browser to quickly produce invoices, update sales figures, view monthly statements and run reports. All new franchise locations are using the system from start-up; existing locations are adopting it in phases. With future widespread use, Navis Logistics will utilize the real-time business intelligence to adapt to market dynamics and gather data on aggregate shipment volume across its franchise network. This data is essential to gaining volume discounts from freight carriers.
"Intacct provides an ideal business solution for franchises looking to streamline internal processes, reduce operating costs and exploit new markets," said Robert J. Jurkowski, CEO of Intacct. "Navis Logistics and its original subsidiary, Handle With Care Packaging Store, have dominated one of the most profitable segments of the packaging and shipping industry for more than two decades. We are excited to support the company's continued growth with Intacct ERP On Demand, the only Web-based, multi-entity ERP solution available today."
As a graduate of IBM's Application Enablement Program, Intacct has worked extensively with IBM to take advantage of the growing market opportunity for new application deployment models and deliver its software as a service. Through the program, IBM works with leading independent software vendors (ISVs) to assess, transform and deploy their software in on demand environments. By adopting alternative software deployment methods, ISVs can meet customer demand for subscription-based and hosted applications while experiencing faster application deployment times, shorter sales cycles and increased market reach.
"Through the Application Enablement Program, IBM is strengthening its commitment to leading ISVs like Intacct by helping them adopt new and less-costly ways of delivering software to customers," said Scott Hebner, vice president of strategy and marketing, ISV & Developer Relations, IBM. "IBM will continue to work with Intacct to help customers, such as Navis Logistics, build an IT infrastructure that improves performance and availability while allowing them to acquire and pay for the computing resources they need, when they need it."
IBM e-business Hosting Services allow customers to obtain computing resources on demand as a speedy, flexible and reliable service. IBM e-business Hosting services include security, computing capacity on demand and application services. Most services are sold on a usage basis.
